I’m delighted to announce I will be singing the role of Hannah in The Second Violinist with Irish National Opera/Dutch National Opera.
Performances are 7th and 9th of March in the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam.
The Second Violinist is an opera by Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh. It tells the story of an ordinary person whose life is ruled by social media, morbid fantasies and violent video games. Seeking solace and beauty in a grim world, the violin player turns to the music of Italian Renaissance composer Carlo Gesualdo, only to have it become an obsession.
The Second Violinist won the prestigious FEDORA–GENERALI award in 2017 and was previously performed at the Galway International Arts Festival and the Barbican, London.
Cast includes Aaron Monaghan, Sharon Carty and Benedict Nelson. Ryan McAdams conducts the Crash Ensemble.
