The Poet Sings: Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival 25.11.22

I’m delighted to announce that I will be performing two world premieres on Friday the 15th of November with the Fidelio Trio.

The 2022 Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival opens with an exciting concert, The Poet Sings, featuring two world premieres inspired by Irish poetry.

Frank Martin’s Trio on Irish Folktunes will open the evening. Then I will join the trio to perform Áine Mallon’s ‘Elderly Craftsman At His Bench’ and Deirdre McKay’s ‘The Owl’. Taking inspiration from the poetry of Thomas Kinsella and Seamus Heaney, Mallon and McKay have composed two wonderful new works specially commissioned for this year’s Winter Chamber Music Festival.

The evening closes with E. J. Moeran’s sumptuous Piano Trio, allowing us to hear a live performance of a piece from Fidelio Trio’s acclaimed album Ernest Moeran: Chamber Works (2022). This recent release was featured as Gramophone’s Editor’s Choice and was nominated for Gramophone’s prestigious Classical Music Awards.

I had the pleasure to work with Mary Dullea (pianist with the trio) during the restrictions of Covid-19 for the trio’s 2021 Chamber Music on Valentia festival. I am excited to work with the rest of the trio now to bring these exciting new works to life.

Friday 25th November 2022, 7.30pm Belvedere House, St Patrick’s Campus, DCU, Dublin 9.
