Beggar’s Opera with European Opera Centre and Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra opening 1.3.13

Benjamin Britten
Benjamin Britten

I am currently in Liverpool preparing for the opening of the Beggar’s Opera on Friday night. I’m singing the role of Lucy Lockit – a jailors daughter who’s fallen for the highwayman Macheath. Unfortunately, I’m not the only lady who’s taken his fancy. A gutsty production with brilliant singing and great new libretto from Robert Farquhar. This is the only production of Britten’s Beggar’s Opera in the UK in his centenary year. Bernard Rozet directs and Richard Farnes conducts.
